Mushrooming
The woods of Low Beskids – mainly oak and fir – are generous for mushroom pickers. We pick boletus, leccinum, red-capped scaber stalk, bay bolete, slippery jack as well as golden chanterelle and red pine mushroom as far as agaric types are concerned.
The first mushrooms start to appear as soon as in June.
Although mushrooms have no nutritional values, only flavour and aromatic values, we all willingly pick them.
When cleaned, we can use them right away and prepare a meal, or dry them or freeze.
When planning mushrooming, remember about appropriate footwear, as the underbrush in Polish forests in uneven, is overgrown with rubus, covered with branches, and ridges are full of Brooks.
